Program Descriptions

Ballerina Bliss

This class is an introduction to the world of Ballet through engaging games and instruction. Students should wear appropriate dance attire, such as leggings or shorts, and a fitted t-shirt or tank top. A bodysuit and tights are recommended but not required. Students should wear bare feet, gymnastics slippers or ballet slippers to class. Instructor: Michelle Mackenzie

Badminton (6-12 years)

Students will work on developing and perfecting the basic movements used in the sport of badminton, while learning the basics of serves, smashes and drop shots, as well as court position. Furthermore; students will be taught the skills necessary to hit the forehand, specifically the correct body movements, swing patterns and balance. This class is suitable for all levels. Basketball Hoopla

Children with a love for Basketball will enjoy developing their skills and knowledge of the game through interactive activities, games and drills. This program is designed to accommodate all skill levels, with drills being adapted for each child’s needs. Instructor: Will Prince

Circus Aerials

Circus Aerials are a combination of dance, technique, strength and fitness combined to create a beautiful acrobatic dance in the air supported by safety regulated tricot fabric. Classes include Aerial silks skills and techniques, students will learn proper knots, flips, hangs, and strength poses. Instructor Shy Kotkas of En L’air Academy of Dance is fully insured and trained. She has been performing and teaching Circus Aerials for 6 years and only teaches skills that students are physically prepared to succeed in. Our classes are safe and occupy proper progressions for maximum safety. Students must wear 3 quarter tights, bare feet and body suits to class for adult classes leggings over a bodysuit or leotard are suitable. Loose clothing may be caught in fabic or hinder a students ability to navigate the silks. Instructor: Shy Kotkas with En L’ air Academy Of Dance and Circus

Discover Yoga

This class is perfect for those looking for a focus on body alignment in combination with breathing to promote flexibility, strength and balance. This gentle yet effective class is designed specifically for brand new students to yoga and for those who like to focus on the fundamentals of Iyengar Yoga. Instructor: Laura-Ann with Yogatopia

Gentle Yoga

This class provides a gentle introduction to the basic principles and practices of yoga. Through the use of basic postures and breathing techniques and the addition of props as needed this class is perfect for maintain good health and fitness. Instructor: Laura-Ann with Yogatopia

Indoor Ball Hockey

Come join us as we play the Canadian classic, hockey! Learn some new skills in a fun, relaxed and non competitive atmosphere then put those skills to use in an exciting scrimmage! This class is a great way to hang out with your friends and make new ones. Get active and enjoy a great sport! No experience required but please bring your own stick! Goalie equipment is provided so all kids wanting to try goalie will get the opportunity. 

Intro to Ice Hockey 

Students will learn basic hockey skills on the ice! All levels are encouraged as participants will practice skating, passing, and of course – scoring! This program offers a variety of fun tips and tricks to becoming a sensational hockey star, all while making news friends! 

Jitterbugs: Arts, Crafts, and Books

Wondering what to do with your little one first thing in the morning? Why not join Jitterbugs where your child will partake in a little warm-up to shake the morning cob-webs off, followed by a story and then a craft related to the story you just read. Your child will surely enjoy Anna our teacher and this will be a great way to stimulate your child’s mind. Instructor: Anna Bates

Kickboxing

This class incorporates all the best elements of Kickboxing into an amazing full body workout! This class will help strengthen and tone your body, build your cardio and leave you feeling great at the end of each class. Learn different punches (jab, cross, hook, uppercut) and kicks (roundhouse, snap, push). Learn to perform kicks and punches in different combinations. This class is suitable for all levels.  Instructor: Kick for Fit

Body SHRED

Jillian Michaels BODYSHRED/ Tot Play
No Sitter- No problem! Bring the kids to play in the gym alongside you while you work out! This class is a high-intensity and endurance based 30 minute workout utilizing Jillian’s 3-2-1 interval approach. (Additional 15 minutes pre/post are for a short demo of the exercises at the beginning of the class and stretching at the end of it). 3 minutes of strength/2 minutes of cardio/1 minute of abs – BODYSHRED is Intelligent Training. It’s kinetic, it’s energetic; it provides challenge, regardless of level integrating all of the most progressive exercise science techniques used by world-class athletes into one program.

Idea Lab- Variety of Courses for Children

Idea Lab provides class activities ranging from Robotics, 3D Art, Engineering and Science. At Idea Lab children learn through inquisitive hands-on-activities utilizing Critical-thinking Skills and a great deal of IMAGINATION! The STEAM curricula is carefully constructed to provide the ultimate Design-Based-Learning environment while providing a FUN hands-on experience.

Skip Squad

Learn to Skip with Calgary Skip Squad! The Calgary Skip Squad recreational skipping program is a non-competitive jump rope program for children 6 yrs- 14yrs. It is a fun class that gives kids the opportunities to learn jump rope skills with single ropes as well as double dutch. The program is designed to help children develop a foundation for all physical fitness activities by improving balance, coordination, and flexibility all in a fun, non-competitive environment. Calgary Skip Squad follows the CANSkip model – Canada’s national rope skipping skill development program.

Level 2 Yoga

Iyengar Style Yoga teaches students to become aware of their body and mind; using sequencing of postures (asanas) and breath to balance the body. Props such as blocks, bolsters and straps make the practice accessible to all body types, focusing on the breath and safe alignment of the body. Instructor: Laura-Ann with Yogatopia

Music Kids

Music Kids is Chinook School of Music’s early childhood music program for ages six months to five years. Our modern approach to music education integrates scientific research supporting the positive role that music plays on brain development. Join our circle of fun as we sing, move and play instruments! You will experience a joyful and nurturing learning environment while developing fundamental music skills. Instructor: Chinook School of Music

Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is intended to take the mindfulness that is found in all disciplines of yoga to the next level. Take time to slow down, connect the mind and body. The use of props- a blanket, chairs, a bolster, an eye bag, a strap and blocks, help to make the practice comfortable to everyone. This class will help to center your breath and body – aligning the physical and mental by practicing stillness or gentle movement for extended periods of time. The props assist in helping you to hold poses longer. Instructor: Laura-Ann with Yogatopia

Tai Chi

Deepening the mind body connection. Relaxation, improved health, and decreased stress are some of the health benefits in the practice of tai chi. Other areas that have seen improvement include reduced bone loss, lower body strength, helps with arthritis, decrease blood pressure, balance, and stability. Tai Chi is also used for patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, MS and many other health conditions. 

55+ Conditioning Class

This moderately paced class focuses on functional movements and on increasing strength and aerobic endurance.

Skating (Intro)

A fun and exciting way to get comfortable on the ice. Geared towards younger children, using props to keep them engaged and focused on simply learning to skate. Instructor: Carmen 

Sportball Junior (16-24 months)

This 45-Minute program is a perfect introduction to Sportball. Children and parents participate in sports, creative games, songs, rhymes, stories, bubble time and much more! Although these programs focus more on exploration, children will be introduced to a different sport each week. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to participate with their child and challenge them according to their skill level.

Sportball Multisport (3-5 years)

Sportball Multi-Sport skills development programs introduce preschool and primary school children to the concepts and skills involved in the eight core sports of the Sportball methodology. Classes are conducted once a week in one-hour sessions, using developmentally appropriate methods to introduce, practice and refine gross motor skills. The programs reinforce the benefits of teamwork and skills development rather than the importance of winning, enabling children to gain the confidence and develop the social skills necessary to succeed in sport and life.

Sportball Parent & Me (2-3 years)

Parents and caregivers can have a direct hand in a preschooler’s development through our range of MultiSport programs. Parent & Me programs teach children important introductory physical skills and help them develop confidence in their abilities. The programs also help adults understand proven teaching techniques that can be applied outside of Sportball classes. Classes focus on refining, rehearsing and repeating skills and playing games in a fun, creative, non-competitive environment.

Sportball T-Ball

All of Sportball’s classes are Coached with Purpose using Sportball Methodology. All games, activities and instructions have a purpose and expected outcome. Our goal is to build your child’s confidence, competence and Physical Literacy. Our programs target three key areas of Childhood development, helping them build skills for life!

Sportball’s play-based approach uses creative coaching techniques to captivate imaginations and reduce performance anxiety. Children imagine that beanbags are pizzas and the targets, animal houses. They deliver pizza to the different animals by hitting the targets.

Little Medical School

Little Medical School is an innovative STEM program that brings medicine, science, and the importance of health to your children ages, 4-12 in an entertaining, exciting and fun way! Classes are small, educational and implement hands-on activities and group learning.

Strong Girls

Strong Girls Fitness is designed for girls to help develop a positive body image and confidence through a great workout with new friends. All movements are functional to everyday life and only use body weighted exercises. While enjoying and learning about the importance of staying active this class will also show the importance of building a strong self esteem. Instructor: Caitlin Scott

Young Rembrandts: Cartooning 

Learning to draw can be fun, especially when we create silly characters, funny expressions and drawing sequences that tell a joke! This delightful program combines Young Rembrandts’ innovative, step-by-step drawing method with light-hearted subject matter that engages children, their sense of humor, and their vivid imaginations. Grades 1 – 6. Instructor: Young Rembrandts

Young Rembrandts: Elementary 

The elementary-age curriculum is designed to teach basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary. We believe that drawing is the bedrock skill required for future artistic success. We give them skills to express their creativity, and believe that all children can – and should – learn to draw. You’ll see increased art abilities, learning skills, self-confidence and self-esteem. Young Rembrandts: Preschool (3-5 years)

Young students are so eager to learn, and a joy to teach. Young Rembrandts provides a nurturing and strong learning environment that expands Preschoolers’ image vocabulary as they draw familiar images such as fish, teddy bears, rainbows and cowboys. We’ll concentrate on the skills of drawing and coloring while we develop fine motor skills, focus, listening, staying on task, patience and spatial organization. Instructor: Young Rembrandts
