Seasonal- Social Event Coordinator (June–August)
Hourly Rate: $20–$22/hour
Schedule: Full-time (Tuesday–Saturday; includes evenings and weekends)

Position Summary
We are seeking an energetic and organized Seasonal- Social Event Coordinator to support our Recreation team during the busy summer season. This full-time, hands-on role is ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors, engaging with the community, and bringing events to life. From weekly markets to seasonal community celebrations, you’ll play a key role in creating memorable experiences for Cranston residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with our Community Experience & Engagement Specialist in executing day of weekly Summer Farmers Markets, including event setup and takedown
- Assist with market beer garden operations, including setup, stocking, and bar service
- Work closely with the Community Experience & Engagement Specialist to support vendor recruitment, communication, and coordination
- Provide on-the-ground support for major community events, including, but not limited to: Neighbours Day, Stampede Breakfast, Amazing Race, and our Adult seasonal events
- Coordinate and facilitate pop-up events in community parks throughout the summer to engage residents and foster community connections
- Ensure event spaces are clean, safe, and welcoming for attendees
- Deliver excellent customer service and act as a positive ambassador for the organization
- Other duties as assigned by the General Manager
Qualifications
- Previous experience in event coordination and/or customer service required
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, outdoor environments
- Comfortable working independently or on a team
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older (due to beer garden operations)
- Valid Standard First Aid & CPR certification required
- ProServe certification (required; must be obtained prior to beer garden operations—training may be completed in June)
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
- Ability to lift and move event equipment (moderate physical activity required)
- Availability for the full contract period (June–August) is required, as this role supports critical summer programming and is funded through a seasonal grant; extended absences or vacation requests cannot be accommodated
Work Schedule- subject to change based upon operational needs
- Tuesday: 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM
- Wednesday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Thursday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (flexible hours required for evening events)
- Saturday: 10:00 AM – 6:30 PM (flexible hours required for evening events)

Seasonal Landscape & Maintenance Worker
About Us
The Cranston Residents Association (Cranston RA) is a non-profit organization that professionally manages Century Hall Facility & Park, along with several offsite community features including the Art Park, Windmill, and decorative corners. Cranston RA provides a wide range of sports, fitness, and recreational programs for all ages throughout the year, in addition to a robust seasonal landscape program.
Position Overview
This seasonal role is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day maintenance of Cranston RA’s facilities, parks, and amenities. The successful candidate enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in maintaining clean and safe spaces, and works well both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintaining facilities, grounds, and equipment
- Perform summer landscaping duties including weeding, planting, mowing and watering
- Ensure safe working conditions and follow all safety procedures
- Monitor housekeeping and safety standards
- Follow Cranston RA policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Represent Cranston RA professionally when interacting with residents and the public
- Communicate effectively and courteously with staff, residents, and visitors
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Available full-time from mid-May to late August
- Physically fit and able to lift up to 60 lbs
- Comfortable working outdoors in hot and/or wet conditions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and changing environment
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License (asset)
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR certification
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector
